I minored in Art in college because I couldn't imagine a year without an art class. Here I am many years later still in art class! I have pursued art in many forms... by running my own sewing business, teaching Elementary Art Enrichment for the Orcutt School District, giving summer art classes through the city's Youth Arts Alive program and volunteering with the Orcutt Children's Arts Foundation.
In my spare time I love to be outside with my family enjoying God's creation. I have 2 young adult kids, a teenager and an awesome husband who keep me busy. We have homeschooled, private schooled and had kids in public school... Some years all at the same time! I am passionate about helping others observe and experience our world through Art. - Jenn Larrabee
Students get hands-on interaction with different art materials and art concepts in class. We also interact with peers in conversation about art, presentation and ways to talk about our own art and others' art. Specifically for older students, my goal is for them to gain confidence in interacting with visual art and learn new techniques they can apply to their own art style. We also have a lot of fun!
Some of the top benefits parents report at the end of the art class year: an improvement in motor skills and grit (the willingness to work through mistakes), as well as new friendships and positive peer interactions.
All classes are held in Orcutt, CA. Most classes are held at my home art studio (address provided after registration), but Studio meets at Cubanissimo Cafe in Orcutt.
I accept cash, check or electronic payment.
Yes, I am a Heartland Charter School vendor and do accept certificates for invoice to a Charter School.
In order to keep costs simple and low for everyone, I keep prices averaged. In essence, everyone gets the sibling discount! I do offer a cash discount for payments that are not invoiced (an example of invoicing would be paying through through a Charter School). Please email me for more information.
